Britney Spears doesn't want dad to 'impede' Sam Asghari prenup, lawyer says - Page Six

Britney Spears added just another item to the laundry list of reasons why she wants her father, Jamie Spears, removed from her conservatorship: her impending prenuptial agreement with fiancé Sam Asghari.

According to court documents obtained by Page Six on Wednesday, the pop star, 39, is working with lawyer Mathew Rosengart, who oversees her conservatorship case, to obtain a family law attorney who will craft the prenup.

Rosengart said in his filing that a prenup would typically require communication with the conservator of an estate — who is currently Jamie — but given that Britney’s relationship with her dad is “broken,” Jamie’s continued involvement would “impede the ability to negotiate and consummate a contract that all can agree is in Ms. Spears’s best interests.”

Earlier this month, Britney and Asghari, 27, happily announced their engagement on social media after nearly five years of dating.

The couple were immediately flooded with inquiries about whether they’d get a prenup, to which Asghari replied in jest, “Of course we’re getting [an] iron clad prenup to protect my jeep and shoe collection incase [sic] she dumps me one day.”

Aside from the prenup negotiations, Rosengart reiterated several reasons why Jamie, 69, must be removed from the conservatorship no later than Sept. 29 — which is when the next hearing in the case is set to take place.

The former federal prosecutor listed Jamie’s poor financial history, which included a bankruptcy, and how Britney’s mother, Lynne Spears, and temporary conservator, Jodi Montgomery, agree that Jamie must be removed.

The attorney also noted that the termination of the conservatorship should adhere to Britney’s wishes to not have a mental or psychological evaluation — as is permitted under the Probate Code.

Jamie announced in August that he would agree to step down from the conservatorship “when the time is right,” noting via his attorney, Vivian Thoreen Lee, that he “does not believe that a public battle with his daughter over his continuing service as her conservator would be in her best interests.”

In September, Jamie and his team filed a petition to terminate the conservatorship altogether after 13 long years.

“We are pleased by Mr. Spears’s recent forced concessions, and my client looks forward to the prompt termination of the conservatorship and to her freedom,” Rosengart told Page Six in a statement on Wednesday.

Then referencing an alleged $2 million payout that Jamie had previously requested to step down as conservator, the lawyer added, “We have exposed Mr. Spears’ efforts to obtain a quid pro quo payout, while also making clear that Britney Spears will no longer be bullied.”

“In the interim, we are moving forward with our July 26, 2021, Petition for the Suspension of James P. Spears, which is a prerequisite to the immediate restoration of my client’s dignity and fundamental rights,” he said.

“Our investigation into the financial and other abusive conduct at issue is ongoing.”

Britney was previously married to childhood pal Jason Alexander and dancer Kevin Federline, with whom she shares sons Sean Preston, 16, and Jayden James, 15.
